Q: How to install the EW-7126 driver in Windows XP/2000/98?

Answer:

   Make Sure EW-7126 is plugged into the PCI slot. Turn on the windows system. Windows will detect the new hardware and the Hardware Found Wizard dialog box will appear. 

  Click Next.  Click Next.  Uncheck the boxes of Floppy Diskette, CD Disk, and checking Windows update.   Only check the box of Specify the location.  Insert the CD Disk that came with EW-7126 into your computer.  If the CD auto-run is executed, click EXIT to close the startup.  Click on Browse.  Look into the CD drive.  Double click on Drivers folder.  Double click on EW-7126 folder.  Double click on your windows OS (for example Win98, WinXP, or Win2000).  Click OK.  You'll be back to the page for specify the location.  Click Next.  The message shows the RealTek RTL8180L Wireless adapter will be installed.  Click Next again.  Click Finish button.  Windows may ask you to restart system.   Click Yes to restart.

   After the computer is restarted, go to the Device Manager to check whether the driver has been properly installed.

Q: How to install the EW-7106PC driver in Windows XP/2000/98?

Answer:

  Please note EW-7106PC is a card bus (32bit) adapter.  Should your laptop does not have card bus controller and only has PCMCIA controller, the EW-7106PC will not work with your laptop. (You can check the PCMCIA Socket Services in the Device Manager.)

  Plug in EW-7106PC into the slot on the laptop . Windows will automatically detect the new hardware and the Hardware Found Wizard dialog box will appear. 

  Click Next.  Click Next.  Uncheck the boxes of Floppy Diskette, CD Disk, and checking Windows update.   Only check the box of Specify the location.  Insert the CD Disk that came with EW-7106 into your computer.  If the CD auto-run is executed, click EXIT to close the startup.  Click on Browse.  Look into the CD drive.  Double click on Drivers folder.  Double click on EW-7106 folder.  Double click on your windows OS (for example Win98, WinXP, or Win2000).  Click OK.  You'll be back to the page for specify the location.  Click Next.  The message shows the RealTek RTL8180L Wireless adapter will be installed.  Click Next again.  Click Finish button.  Windows may ask you to restart system.   Click Yes to restart.

Q. How to make sure if my EW-7126/EW-7106 driver has been installed properly in Windows?

In Win98, right click on My Computer icon and select Properties. Go to Device Manager.

In Windows 2000, right click on My Computer icon and select Properties.  Go to Hardware tab.  Go to Device manager.

In Windows XP, click on Start, right click on  My Computer and select Properties.  Go to Hardware tab.  Go to Device manager.

 In the Device Manager, click + on "Network Adapter" to expand the list.  You should see the Realtek RTL8180 Wireless LAN PCI NIC.  Like the following

    Note:  There is no ! mark nor ? mark on the Realtek RTL8180 Wireless LAN PCI NIC.
    Double click the Realtek RTL8180 Wireless LAN PCI NIC to go into the properties.  The device status should say "The device is working properly" like the following

If you see the message "The device is working properly", you have installed the EW-7126/EW-7106 driver successfully.

Q.  How to install the RTL8180 utility?

Windows XP provides a build-in wireless configuration utility.  You may not need to install the RTL8180 utility in Windows XP.   You can refer the FAQ for configuring wireless network in XP.

    Insert the CD Disk to your computer.  Browse the content of the CD Disk.  Find the setup.exe program under the d:\drivers\ew-7126 folder or d:\drivers\ew-7106 folder.  Double click the setup.exe in order to install the RTL8180 utility.

   You will see a RTL8180 icon on the screen.  Double click the RTL8180 icon to launch the utility program.
