How to setup a Standard TCP/IP Port to
print to Print Server?
A:
The following is the installation procedure for adding printer on
Windows 2000/XP/2003. If you
already install the printer driver, you can skip step3 and step4.
- Know the IP address of
your Print Server and the IP address of your machine.
To know the IP address of a Windows machine, type 'ip config /all' under
the DOS command prompt. For example here, IP address of the machine is
192.168.123.10. You might need to change IP address of your machine by
going to TCP/IP property in Network of Control Panel.
To know the IP address of the PrintSir unit, you can run the PrintSir Configuration
Utility and then click 'PrintSir Status' tab. The value for 'Active
IP' is the IP address of PrintSir. For example here, IP address of
PrintSir is192.168.123.20. To assign IP address of PrintSir, you
can click 'IPCfg' tab in the PrintSir Configuration Utility. Input the IP address. Click Write then click Reset button.
- Test the
connection by running the PING command in DOS command prompt.
PING the IP address of PrintSir. For example here, C:\Windows>
ping 192.168.123.20
Make sure you get 4 success
replies. If not, go back to step1 and make sure IP addresses are setup

change the port name like IP_192.168.123.20_p1 for port 1 printer,
IP_192.168.123.20_p2 for port 2 printer, IP_192.168.123.20_p3 for port 3
printer. The port name will show in the printer port list of Printer
Property after these are done.
