Caution: If you want to use Windows 98 on a motherboard with VIA MVP3 chipset, you MUST first contact http://www.via.com.tw/ to get a patch file to upgrade your Windows 98. Otherwise, your network cannot run properly under  Windows 98.

    Q: How to install the EN-9130TX/TXA driver in Windows XP or Windows 2000?

    Answer:

      Make sure that your adapter should be properly installed in your PCI bus slot. Executing Windows2000, it will auto-detect your system configuration and find the adapter hardware. 

      Windows XP/2000 will install built-in driver "Realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet NIC" automatically.

    Q. How to make sure if my EN-9130TX Fast Ethernet adapter driver has been installed properly in Windows XP?

    1.  Click on Start menu.  Right click on "My Computer" select "properties".
    2 . Click on Hardware tab. Click on Devices Manager.

    3.  In the Device Manager, click + on "Network Adapter" to expand the list.  You should see the Realtek RTL8139(A) PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter.  Like the following

        Note:  There is no ! mark nor ? mark on the RealTek RTL8139 NIC.
    4.  Double click the Realtek RTL8139 Adapter to go into the properties.  The device status should say "The device is working properly" like the following

    If you see the message "The device is working properly", you have installed the EN-9130TX driver successfully.

    Q. How to make sure if my EN-9130TX Fast Ethernet adapter driver has been installed properly in Windows 2000?

    1.  Right click on "My Computer" icon from Desktop then choose the "property" item from popup menu.
    2 . Click the "Device Manager" in "Hardware" dialog box.
    3.  In the Device Manager, click + on "Network Adapter" to expand the list.  You should see the Realtek RTL8139(A) PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter.  Like the following

        Note:  There is no ! mark nor ? mark on the RealTek RTL8139 NIC.
    4.  Double click the Realtek RTL8139 Adapter to go into the properties.  The device status should say "The device is working properly" like the following

    If you see the message "The device is working properly", you have installed the EN-9130TX driver successfully.

    Q:  How to install the EN-9130TX/TXA driver in Windows 98?

    Answer:  Win98 detect the new hardware and prompt the New Hardware Wizard.  Click Next twice.  Win98 shows you 4 options - floppy diskette, CD ROM, Search from Internet, Specify the location.

              Only click on "Specify the location".  Insert the floppy diskette that came with EN-9130TX adapter.  Then click on Browse button.  In the Browse window, look into the floppy drive A   Double click on Win98 folder.  Click OK.  You will back to the "Specify the location" option with a:\win98 as the location.  Click Next.  Your systems will copy files from Win98 OS CD disk.  Click Finish.  Click Yes while Win98 ask you reboot the system.

             After computer restarts, check the Device Manager to make sure the driver has been installed properly.

    Q. When I run the On-board diagnostic from CONFIG.EXE program, I get the following result:
    I/O registers: PASS; Loopback test FAIL; Cable Connection: PASS. How come?

    Answer: You got FAILURE on Loopback test, this is because you connect the tested PC to a hub (or another PC). You can disconnect those devices then you will get PASS on Loopback test.

    Q: What is the difference between EN-9130TX and EN-9130TXA?
    Answer: The EN-9130TXA supports ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) and remote wake-up (Wake on LAN) features but EN-9130TX not. The EN-9130TXA supports three kinds of wake-up events:
       - Link state change
       - Magic packet
       - Wake up frame

    Q: How to test Wake On Lan (WOL) feature of EN-9130TXA?
    Answer:
    1. Required environment:

                  1.1 A PC supporting APM or ACPI and WOL
                  1.2 EN-9130TXA Fast Ethernet Card.
                  1.3 WOL 3-pin cable
                  1.4 WebDESK to send magic packet.

    Note: if you use LWAKE(Pin 83), not PMEB(Pin 76) to remotely wake up your PC. You have to make sure the type of your WOL signal. RTL8139A allows two kinds of WOL signal setting. If the WOL connector of the motherboard activate in high pulse, LAN card connector should be set in high status. If the WOL connector of the motherboard activate in low pulse, LAN card connector should be set in low status. The WOL connector of LAN card should accord with that of motherboard. You can configure the setting of WOL connector using CONFIG.EXE program shipped in the diskette on pure DOS environment.

    PMEB is standard PCI pin which is active low.

    2. Procedures:

    2.1 Take a note about the Ethernet ID of the tested EN-9130TX card.
    2.2 Power on the tested PC that is with EN-9130TX to DOS environment.
    2.3 Power off (soft off) the tested PC.
    2.4 Send a magic packet from another PC.
    2.5 The tested PC will be waken up.
